It was in November 1946 that Jack Coggan acquired Home Stud. Then known as Norman Court Stud, it had been developed in the early 1920’s by Washington Singer, the son of American sewing machine magnate Isaac Singer, on Part of his 20,000-acre estate.

The Stud has always been a rich source of thoroughbred success since its inception and can be attributed to the outstanding grazing. Indeed, between 1950 and 1970, some 240 winners of 376 races were produced from resident mares. These included the Derby runner up Gay Time and the Cheveley Park winner Rich and Rare.

Jack Coggan passed the stud on to his son John and the 1970’s saw Home Stud produce Final Straw and Achieved, both winners of the Champagne Stakes. The 1980’s however, really established the stud as an excellent platform for top class performers. It was responsible for Group or Grade 1 winners in the USA, South Africa and, most memorably, Ireland, with Colorspin winning the Irish Oaks.

Mike Channon Bloodstock Ltd. purchased Home Stud in 2003 from Mr and Mrs Charles Vincent and reverted it back to its original title of Norman Court Stud. This sparked the beginning of a concerted period of modernisation that continues to this day.

Currently the stud is home to several quality Norman Court mares along with boarding mares, foals and yearlings, whilst the stallion services have developed to such an extent that they are able to offer the bloodstock industry the services of three top class stallions in Sixties Icon, Winker Watson and Imperial Dancer.
